Pranayama means "extension of the life force or breath" and can be used as a meditation technique. Meditation is a fundamental relaxation practice that can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and promote spirituality. By focusing on your breath, your mind will become attuned to your inner needs and be able to channel thoughts and emotions while helping you gain new perspective. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of Pranayama meditation including types of breathing such Kapalabhati and Anuloma Viloma.

Do you have lower back pain? You are not alone. "Back pain is the second most common neurological ailment in the United States - only headache is more common." (National Institute of Health). Yoga can be an asset in both strengthening muscles to create back support as well as stretching muscles to ease back tension and discomfort. Pranayama, or breath control, is also a useful tool in alleviating pain from targeted areas of the back which may carry the most stress. Sign up for our low back workshop to be introduced to safe and gentle exercises which alleviate pain and support the road to recovery.

This is a wonderful way to begin your Pilates journey. The workshop will begin with a brief history of Pilates, past, present and future. Next, you will learn how to set-up the Reformer correctly for your body, how to get in and out of positions correctly, the difference between neutral spine and flat back, how to breath during exercises, and how to execute basic Pilates exercises.
This workshop is highly recommended prior to attending Reformer classes at BodyWellness.
